ABOUT THE RACE
BIYC welcomes cruisers visiting the region to join in the fun and share in a unique cultural experience from the beautiful Miri Marina to duty-free Labuan, East Malaysia and finishing up in the exotic destination of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.

The Borneo International Yachting Challenge is a Category 3 event, catering to five categories of boats, namely racing, cruising, sports, classic and ocean multi-hull. The highlight of the 5-day event is the 100-nautical mile Miri - Labaun Passage race in which the fastest boat is expected to finish in 20 hours.

In what is possibly the missing link for sailing events in South China Sea region, the Borneo International Yachting Challenge will complete the sailing circuit made up of the Hong Kong to San Fernando Sea Race (Philippines), President's Cup (Philippines) and the Koh Samui International Regatta (Thailand).

The starting date in July means that Participants of Sail Malaysia Rally 2010 will be able to fit it into their schedule

The overall winner of the Borneo International Yachting Challenge trophy will be those with the least accumulated corrected times of the Miri Bay Regatta, the Miri-Labuan Passage race, Labuan-Kota Kinabalu Passage Race, Kota Kinabalu Bay Regatta (IRC class only).

The committee is made up of the Miri Marina based in Miri and the Labuan Corporation. The leading authorities lending support to the event for Sarawak are the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism Sarawak and the Sarawak Tourism Board while Labuan Corporation and Sabah Tourism Board

The working committee is headed by the Honorable YB Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the Minister of Communications and Minister of Sports, Sarawak, YBhg Dato Basiran B Saban, CEO of Labuan Corporation and YBhg Dato Seri Tengku Zainal Adlin, Chairman of Sabah Tourism Board.

Miri Marina, Labuan Marina and Sutera Harbour will be the hosting marinas.
